It is with sadness that I report the death of Lizzie [Gunsyn Rizzo]. She is sorely missed.
At Gundog Breeds Association of Scotland, Pomona wins Best of Breed and is once again shortlisted in the group. Luigi wins Best Dog. Eddie wins 2nd in Open bitch!
At SKC August 2008 Pomona, wins Best of Breed & is also shortlisted in the Gundog Group by Andrew Brace. This is the FIRST time a Bracco has been shortlisted in a Group!

She is only 1 day out of puppy!!
Luigi had a splenectomy and gastric torsion correction recently. It was
down to the excellent treatment by my vets (Millar and Swann in Elgin)
that he survived. He did not suffer from Bloat! It would appear
that one of the other dogs ran into him earlier in the week and the impact
was enough to trigger the spleen to twist. This can and did, go undetected
for a couple of days and he was treated for acute colic, however as the
spleen continued to twist this had a knock on effect on the stomach, finally
causing the gastric torsion. I am however very pleased to say that he
coped very well with the huge operation (4 hrs) he was very steady under
anaesthetic (Bracco's have been known to have problems under anaesthesia)
and is well on the road to recovery.
Please note that this was not due to the feeding/exercise regime and is the first full torsion I have had in any of my own dogs in 25years. However I have witnessed several torsions and bloat in others people's Weimaraners and Bracchi. It is a very distressing condition and clearly despite doing everything possible to avoid it, if it is going to happen it will.
